Surf
Expo was packed. The wind section at Surf Expo was
full of energy. So much so a couple of exhibitors
outside our area asked us if they could be in the Wind
Section next year! This was the best attended, highest
energy show that wind sports has seen in 10 years!

Then
we moved... moved to Clearwater for an on the water
demo and party... The beach was full of gear, we all
got to look at the gear 'up close and personal' and
try out kite, windsurf and SUP equipment.... the
wind was light the first day.. (you've all put on
events, the wind is always light the first day!),
light enough for a half dozen of the young kite team
to learn to windsurf.... and everyone played
on the Standup boards... a great day on the
water, on a beautiful beach.....
Then
the party... we had over 140 people attend the Monday
night dinner and party. Everyone had fun getting to
know one another from around the world...
and the food was KILLER!
Tuesday
mornings meeting consisted of discussions by on increasing your profits, and
an open discussion on the direction of the
association. The spirited discussion focused on;
1.
Insurance for the shops and schools
2.
Creating a promotional DVD for distribution to
potential windsurfers with a rigging guide
3.
A program to create more kiteboarding instructors
The
AWSI is your voice to the media, larger promotion of
wind sports via pooled resources and a larger group to
effectively reduce freight and insurance costs.
New Website!
We
are joining forces with the Board Retailers
Association (BRA) to bring you a plethora of cost
savings benefits, an updated FORUM and access to the
BRA Retail University presently under construction.

With
the new association, comes a new AWSI Website... we
working on it, but are a little over a month out, but
the wait will be worth it!
The Association
of Wind Sports Industries (AWSI) is proud to
represent the sports of windsurfing and kiteboarding,
and we are dedicated to the growth of the wind sport
industry.
The
AWSI is the trade association representing the
business interests of manufacturers, distributors,
retailers, schools and sports in the wind sport
industries of windsurfing and kiteboarding. Our
primary goal is to provide trade-related information
and services to the members and to promote industry
growth.
